Why Piper's? An answer from our President.
Welcome to our Piper's website. You may ask "Why Piper's?" I would like to tell you from our members' point of view, why we think Piper's is a wonderful place to live and why a purchase here makes more economic sense than at most "Private Gated Communities."
I believe there are two key factors that differentiate Piper's Landing from other private golf, tennis, and marina communities. First, due to our membership philosophy and financial structure, our community is financially sound despite difficult times. Several years ago, our property owners association (POA) and country club merged into one entity known as Piper's Landing, Inc. (dba Piper's Landing Yacht & Country Club). We are the only residential gated golf community in the area with this structure. This single entity approach yields two benefits: (a) It saves our members money on sales taxes (our dues and fees are exempt), and property taxes (all property taxes on common areas of the community, including all amenities, are divided equally by the number of residents and allocated to each member's property tax bill) and (b) All new members join our current members in a single class of membership. Membership is mandatory, meaning that all members are full golf members and everyone pays the same amount for refundable equity, non-refundable capital contribution, and annual dues and fees. This means that all members are equally invested in supporting our golfing and other amenities and share equally in their ongoing support. Few, if any, other area clubs can claim this unique advantage.
Second, Piper's is a community of friendly, welcoming, caring and sharing members. Our members are here for one another if and when needed. They are openly friendly and welcoming to guests and new members. Whether getting together for a round of golf on our championship course or sharing a meal from our award-winning chef in the Grill Room or Dining Room, there are always friendly smiles and good conversation. Piper's is not just a collection of properties where you may occasionally see your neighbors. Rather, it is a community where members truly care about one another. The greatest selling point for Piper's Landing is the friendliness of our members!
